What is in a ProfitDrawer bookkeeping spreadsheet?

Updated By ProfitDrawer

Short answer

A ProfitDrawer bookkeeping spreadsheet is a 12-tab workbook: START HERE, Settings, Annual Dashboard, Monthly Dashboard, Quarterly, Income, Expenses, Mileage, Unpaid Invoices, Top Clients (named for the trade, such as Top Brokers for truck drivers), Monthly Summary and Tax Summary. Every formula is written and locked in Excel (Google Sheets does not keep the locks). It comes with Bookkeeping-Template.xlsx, Google-Sheets-Setup.pdf and READ-ME-FIRST.pdf, and has room for 1,000 income rows a year.

What each tab does:

Tab What it shows
START HERE Seven setup steps
Settings Business name, financial year, currency, mileage rate, tax set-aside %, profit goal, categories
Annual Dashboard Income, expenses, net profit, money owed, tax set-aside, miles, best month, profit-goal ring, charts
Monthly Dashboard Pick a month: profit, change vs last month, progress to goal
Quarterly Pick Q1 to Q4: totals and tax to put aside
Income Date, client, invoice number, category, amount, paid yes/no
Expenses Date, paid to, category, amount, receipt link
Mileage From, to, miles; deduction at your rate
Unpaid Invoices Up to 40 unpaid invoices, flagged at 30 and 60 days
Top Clients Ranked by what they paid this year
Monthly Summary Income, expenses, profit, margin, unpaid, miles by month
Tax Summary Totals by category, deductible amounts, suggested set-aside

Built in: your financial year can start in any month; categories are dropdowns you can rename; owner draw and personal spending are kept out of profit and tax; room for 1,000 income rows, 1,000 expenses and 500 trips a year. Income, Expenses and Mileage each start with five example rows to clear before you start.

It is a tracker, not tax software: it does not file taxes, create invoices or run payroll.
