Do I need to be good with spreadsheets to use ProfitDrawer files?

Updated By ProfitDrawer

Short answer

No. With a ProfitDrawer bookkeeping spreadsheet you type your numbers into white boxes and every total, chart and dashboard updates by itself. Seven setup steps on the START HERE tab take about five minutes: fill in Settings, check your categories, clear the 5 example rows and start adding income, expenses and trips. Categories are dropdowns, and every formula is already written.

What you actually do:

  • Type the date, who paid or who you paid, pick a category from the dropdown and enter the amount.
  • Choose Yes or No in the Paid? column for income.
  • Look at the dashboards. You never write a formula.

What is done for you: monthly, quarterly and annual totals, profit, profit goal progress, unpaid invoices (up to 40, flagged at 30 and 60 days), top clients, mileage deduction and a tax summary.

What helps:

  • Knowing how to type in a cell and use a dropdown is enough.
  • In Excel, formula cells are locked so they cannot be broken by accident. In Google Sheets, those locks are not kept after import, so type only in the white boxes.
  • Spell each client the same way every time so Top Clients adds them up correctly.
  • READ-ME-FIRST.pdf explains each tab, and Google-Sheets-Setup.pdf shows the import steps.
