# How do I make a copy of a Google Sheets file into my own Drive?

To copy a Google Sheets file into your own Drive, open the file, click File > Make a copy, type a name, choose the Drive folder to save it in, and click Ok. You can tick Copy comments and suggestions if you want those too. ProfitDrawer's bookkeeping spreadsheets do not rely on a shared copy link: you import the included .xlsx file, so the 12-tab workbook is created directly in your own Google Drive.

**Steps (computer):**

1. Open the spreadsheet you want to copy (you need to be able to open it, for example from a link someone shared).
2. Click **File > Make a copy**.
3. Type a name and choose where to save it in your Drive.
4. Optional: tick **Copy comments and suggestions**, and choose whether to include resolved ones.
5. Click **Ok**.

The copy is a separate file in the folder you chose. Edits you make to it do not change the original, and changes to the original do not reach your copy.

**If you have an Excel file instead of a shared link,** you do not need Make a copy. Open Google Sheets and use **File > Import** to create the spreadsheet from the .xlsx file. That is how ProfitDrawer files are set up, which is why there is no shared link that can be moved or deleted later.
